HOUSE AND ACCOMMODATION

Le Pichet is a traditional mountain house built, as are many in the region, partly into the hillside. It adjoins “La Carrette”, the former farmhouse which we now also own, and which is our separate accommodation during your stay. We bought the property, originally a crumbling barn, in 1994, and in the years that followed have lovingly restored it to the beautiful home it is today. It retains as far as possible the original stonework and features ( the rooftop“pas d’oiseaux” used once for thatching purposes; and the beams of the old roof structure.) Tastefully furnished, and with Rodney's paintings and sculptures and Eleri’s embroideries providing a personal and artistic touch, we are proud to welcome you into this part of our home.

The house faces directly west towards the Col de la Core and the slopes of Mt Valier, and benefits from superb light, particularly in the dining room and upstairs lounge during the afternoons and evenings. The actual living area comprises, on the ground floor which is tiled throughout:

Dining/ living room with oak table and chairs; wood burning stove, bibliotheque, sofa and flat screen television.

From the dining room, a beautiful oak stairway leads you to the first floor, comprising:

A spacious, airy, high-ceilinged lounge, containing sofa, armchair, canapé cigogne (a chaise long that can also convert to two single beds),  and a well stocked bookcase (both English and French). A large number of maps, walking-guides, and tourist information is at your disposal.

The interior stone walls and windows are themselves very picturesque, and have been chosen by many clients as a subject for their paintings.
