Your tutor for painting holidays is Rodney Munday, a professional artist with an international reputation, exhibiting in both London and Paris. In 2017 he won the  Grand Prix de Sculpture at Art Inter's International exhibition in Lyon, and was invité d'honneur at the Salon International des Arts at Zillisheim in Alsace.  He has also won several awards at the prestigious Salon d’Art du Colombier at St. Arnoult-en-Yvelines. His many commissions include a sculpture of St. Andrew for the Minster Church in Plymouth,  a statue of St. Edmund of Abingdon for the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and a sculpture commemorating organ donation for Western Sussex Hospital Trust. In the Pyrenees, Rodney has returned to his love of two dimensional work in a variety of media, inspired by the extraordinary beauty of the scenery  and exceptional quality of the light. His relaxed and friendly approach brings out the best in all his pupils, beginner and accomplished alike.  Further information about  Rodney can be seen on the rest of this website
Whether you come for a painting holiday or just to enjoy the area, you will also be warmly welcomed by Rodney's wife Eleri.( who does not paint, but loves embroidery).  A dedicated and enthusiastic hostess, Eleri is here to ensure that your stay is everything you could wish for, and more. She delights in producing delicious meals and picnics from local produce for those on painting holidays, and is always on hand to help or offer advice about activities, itineraries and practicalities, thereby saving hours spent in the local tourist office!. She  adores this region, and is never happier than when showing it off -it has so much to offer  painters and non-painters alike, and Eleri will be delighted to  ensure that  non-painters also go home refreshed and inspired!

Eleri's love of mountains comes from her childhood in N Wales, and her  love of France from student cycling holidays which enticed her further and further south. She and Rodney fell by chance on the Ariege during a walking holiday in 1993, and will never forget an evening picnic in the Garbet Valley when they believed themselves to be in the most beautiful place on earth. Even now, it still seems incredible that they would one day have a home in the middle of the very view which so enchanted them, let alone be in a position to share it with others.

Their son William may or may not put in an appearance during your stay. Educated in Ariege since the age of 11, he is now studying Geology at the University of Toulouse as well as continuing with his training to become an ESF monitor. Outside the ski-season, he is also a keen cyclist (road and VTT).  When time permits, he also enjoys painting - mainly of mountains.
